Promote the Well Played game to meet everyone’s needs by
emphasizing team play over individual play.
Equalizer Rule
The Equalizer Rule attempts to keep the score close by giving a 1 player advantage to a
team down 2 goals and a 2 player advantage to a team down 4 goals. When this rule does
not keep the score close then players may be moved to balance the teams.
Gretzky Rule
Players get 2 points for an assist and only 1 point for scoring a goal. At the end of the season,
the Gretzky Trophy in each division goes to the player with the most assists. To further
encourage team play and passing, our version of the Gretzky Rule is that in a
40 to 75 minute game, players can only score 3 goals. In shorter games, players can
only score 2 goals.
